What is Generative AI?

The term "Generative AI" refers to software designed to generate text, images, videos, or even code. Generative AI has created a new market, with two major types of use cases rapidly emerging:

Direct uses: Generative AI is embedded in consumer applications, such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT app, which reached 300 million users worldwide in just two years.
Integrated uses: Generative AI is also used as a technology building block integrated into professional software solutions. It enables the automation of repetitive or complex tasks such as report writing, automatic document summarisation, or code generation. These integrations help companies improve productivity.
