What is the Internet of Things?
Connected objects are devices equipped with wired or wireless communication (Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, 3G, etc.). In sectors such as healthcare, transport, energy and sports, a growing number of companies already benefit from IoT technologies.
IoT: hardware or software?
Although the term ‘connected objects’ may suggest hardware only, it goes far beyond that. IoT includes the software layer — the IoT platform — which brings together the technical services used to manage devices, collect and analyse data, and secure communication from the device to the information system.
